Cost-Effective Web Sites with Joomla! CMS
Written by Evan Mann

In order to take advantage of the latest in Web 2.0 technology, most Web sites are built using a Content Management System (CMS). A popular alternative to a custom-built CMS is Joomla!, an open source system that brings down the cost and development time for sites that require a number of interactive and social networking features. Like any application, Joomla! requires some training, so I've created a quick video introduction that shows the basics of adding an article and menu link.

Because the core system is free, more attention can be paid to design, functionality and the specific applications that a site may need. Joomla! sites can be enhanced with blogs, forums, directories, calendars, project portfolios, Twitter feeds and more. There are scores of developers around the world creating these applications for Joomla!, usually charging small fees from $50 to $150 for their use. At Frost Miller Group, we use Joomla! in addition to custom CMS tools when the client's need and budget requires more flexibility. In the future, we'll post some more videos showing additional features that can be created with a Joomla! site.
